It was yet another breakthrough year for Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh as Indians Squash star Saurav Ghosal announced his retirement. Squash’s biggest moment was undoubtedly its inclusion in the roster of sports for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

January

British Junior Open 2024: Anahat Singh won the money medal in the U-17 women’s category, narrowly losing to Egyptian Nadien Elhammamy in a hotly contested final.

Indian squash star Saurav Ghosal has announced his retirement from professional squash in April 2024 after a 22-year career.

National Squash Doubles Championship: The duo of Joshna Chinappa and Abhay Singh won the mixed doubles title, Rathika Suthanthira Seelan and Pooja Arthi won the women’s doubles and Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar won the men’s doubles.

NSW Open: Anahat Singh continued her stellar season by winning the women’s singles title, marking her seventh PSA Challenger title of the year.

December

World Team Squash Championships 2024: The Indian men’s team secured a commendable fifth place after beating host Hong Kong, China 2-0 in the playoffs. The women’s team secured seventh place, demonstrating the depth and talent present in Indian squash. The Indian team also received a special mention for ‘Most Improved Team’.
