The free agency is starting to warm up around the NflWhile the teams are preparing for the new year of the league. One of the positions that is not as appreciated as the others, but which has a significant value is the second -handed secondary.
For each Fred Warner and Roquan Smith, there are players who can be obtained from the out -of -ball secondary who are profitable and offer excellent value for the position. The teams can find these players in a free agency, because the out of ball secondors are generally not signed on long -term contracts.
This year’s second -hand secondary course is full of players who offer excellent value to a team, even if only one or two will probably have an agreement during the legal falsification period of the Libre Agency.
These are the 10 best seconds out of ball in free agency:
Baun had a year of career in Philadelphia last season, one of the best free agent signatures in the Nfl. During his first season as second -ball seconds, Baun finished with 151 plated, 11 plated for the loss, 3.5 bags, five forced escapes, four defended passes and an interception in 16 games. He increased his match in the playoff series, finishing with 33 plated, three defended passes, a forced escape and two interceptions – including one in the Super bowl Lix victory over Kansas City chiefs. Baun has been the first player since plated became an official statistic in 1987 to have more than 150 plated and 5+ forced in one season.
Baun will certainly earn more than $ 3.5 million in 2025 and beyond, while he was making his way in a massive contract during the offseason. He is the best free agent secondary available on the market.
Best adjustments: Eagles, commanders, saints
2025 Dates of the offseason of the NFL Key: when the deadline for the franchise tag, the free agency, the project, the professions, other events take place
Cody Benjamin
Future temple of fame, Wagner was still great during his first year with Washington. A second All-Pro team, Wagner finished with 132 plated, 2.0 bags and four passes defended in 17 games in Mike. Wagner has been an All-Pro for 11 consecutive years and still plays a high level in the mid-1930s. He had 25 plated and a bag of 0.5 in three qualifying games.
A one -year agreement can be suitable for Wagner at this stage of the game. It was vital in the commanders who jumped their total victories of four victories at 12 last season and is a leader for any defense.
Best adjustments: Commanders, looters, rams
An injury to Achilles put away from Greenlaw for most of the season (suffered the injury in the Super bowl LVIII loss all the leaders), but he is one of the best seconds of the game when he is healthy. He only played 34 snaps last season, but is worth the leaflet for any team who needs an outside ball.
Greenlaw has consecutive seasons over 100 years old before her injury from Achilles. He has missed several games in each of the last five seasons, but is incredibly productive when he is on the field.
Best adjustments: 49ers, lions, cardinals
One of the best racing caps in the league, Jones must find a permanent home in free agency after being exchanged twice in the past year. Jones had 138 plated last season, his third consecutive season with more than 100 plated. Among the races that Jones was faced, 23.9% of the parts resulted in a tackle.
If a team needs a strokes, Jones is a good bet.
Best adjustments: Seahawks, cardinals, commanders
A player underestimated in his position, Bolton was a player still good at the defense of the Chiefs during his Super Bowl races. He finished with 106 plated and 3.0 bags to go with six defended passes. Bolton had more than more plated during three of his four seasons, offering great value to the Chiefs as a second round choice.
Excellent against the race, Bolton is a strong player at Mike. Chiefs can simply let him go elsewhere (as they did with the players of Seven of Back-Seven), but it may not be the best decision.
Best adjustments: Chiefs, titans, raiders
Leader on Buccaneers for a decade, David can still play at a high level. Future temple of fame, David succeeded 122 plated and 5.5 bags last season with six defended passes – playing an important role in the defense of Todd Bowles.
If David had signed with another team other than the Buccaneers, it would be shocking.
Best adjustments: Buccaneers
Sherwood could be Zack Baun of this year among the class of the seconds outside the ball, because he had his escape campaign in his last season in his recruit contract. He finished with 158 plated and led the NFL with 98 solo plated, while 2.0 bags and three passes defended.
Converted security, Sherwood could improve on the cover because it still gets regular shots. Athletics stands out on a band.
Best adjustments: Eagles, giants, chefs
Another excellent stopper, Spillane succeeded 158 plated and seven defensive passes last season (finished in the first five in plated), while having two interceptions. Spillane had 22.5% of the races ending in a tackle and does not lack a lot of plated.
With consecutive seasons of 140+ plated, Spillane should not have a problem to find a starting job for 2025.
Best adjustments: Raiders, rams, broncos
Kendricks only signed in July last season, but should arouse interest in the free agency as a veteran presence. Cowboys were a disaster in 2024, but Kendricks finished with 138 plated, 3.0 bags and two interceptions in Mike.
Kendricks can play both second -ball positions, which is precious for the defenses. There should be an opportunity for him in 2025 if he wants.
Best adjustments: Buccaneers, rams, commanders
Dodson is a better player than the carpet, mainly because it is poorly used. He is strong on the cover and a player who is better against the race when put in the right position. Dodson finished with 107 plated, three interceptions and six defensive assists last season.
A change of decor would be good for Dodson, which is worth taking a leaflet on this intersaison.
Best adjustments: Eagles, Bills, 49ers
