Rick Barnes previews Tennessee basketball in the dry tournament
Tennessee basketball has a double bye in the SEC tournament and opens on Friday in Nashville.
For the first time in months, Texas male basketball seems to be on solid field with regard to the NCAA tournament.
The Longhorns (19-14) undoubtedly needed several victories at this week’s dry tournament to qualify for the big dance. Thursday’s upheaval in Thursday during the fifth seeded Texas A&M could have been sufficient, but a Friday victory against Tennessee would probably qualify the team for the second consecutive season under Rodney Terry and third in a follow -up.
Joe Lunardi from ESPN updated his projections on Thursday and counts Texas, but most of the other rankings of the leading media do not explain the last games. Ncaa.com Andy Katz Did not classify Texas in its Top 37, but wrote on the Horns: “Texas has probably entered the SEC tournament, but the path to recover is available … If the Longhorns had to beat two teams to the tournament in Vanderbilt and Texas A&M, then there would be a chance.”
So let’s take a look at the teams supposed to have been ahead of Texas in these slices and see how they now made two days of conference tournament tournament. Here, other NCAA bubble teams to monitor next week:
Updating the removal of Texas Longhorns
Lunardi now has the Longhorns when Katz did not have Texas during their last updates, made on Monday. And Jerry Palm From CBS updated his land on Friday morning and had Texas as the first four. Mike delean de Fox Sports has updated its hook before the Texas game and the Longhorns among the first four. The SEC was clearly the best conference in the season and Texas was tied for the third record in the ranking in 16 teams.
Updating the deletion of Indiana Hoosiers
Palm and Decourcy had Indiana (19-13) among their last four enclosure; Lunardi has the Hoosiers during his first team. Katz did not mention Indiana in its top-37 Power Rankings and Big Ten Roundup.
The Hoosiers lost their first tournament match against Oregon, their second defeat against the Ducks in just over a week. Indiana ended the season with more victories than Texas, but was only 4-12 against the enemies of Quad 1 with a 5-0 file against the Quad 2. Texas teams. A 6-9 quad 1 and 3-5 file in 2-quad teams with a chance to obtain a huge victory on Friday.
Big Ten should have the second most important teams in the country admitted to the tournament. Indiana finished 10-10 in the league for an intermediate seeded in the tournament after a mild non-conference calendar.
UNC basketball fork
Palm A Unec (22-12) among its first four to go out while Decourcy and Lunardi have the Tar Heels among the last four in. Katz did not mention the North Carolina, the fifth seed of the ACC tournament.
UNC tries to compensate for a non -competitive season scan against his rival Duke With a strong ACC. It works so far with victories on Notre Dame and her colleague Wake Forest. For their tournament, the Tar Heels are the fifth seeded of what seems to be a year of decline for ACC.
Xavier basketball bracketology
Palm had Xavier (21-11) in his last four times, just like Lunardi and Decourcy. Katz had Xavier as one of the four Big East teams almost assured a place, classifying the country’s 25th musketeers in its power classification. Xavier, the fourth seeded of the Big East tournament, lost against Marquette, another potential guest at Big Dance, in the first round.
San Diego State Bracketology
Palm had SDSU (21-9) like his last four in everything that made him discourage and Lunardi. Katz said that the Aztecs “should be in … but it’s close”. SDSU ended equally in a fourth row in a difficult conference in Mountain West and fell to his other team of Boules Boisse State (23-9) in the first round of the MWC tournament.
Ohio State Bracketology
Buckeyes (17-15) are probably outside looking after a first round out in the Big Ten tournament. The Ohio State, heads of 10th grade, could have really used a victory over Indiana and is registered on Lunardi’s projection as one of the first four teams. Ditto for cutting. Katz did not even mention OSU in its Big Ten ranking or its rankings and OSU is not a functionality in the update of Palm.
More NCAA tournament bubble teams namely
Wooden state
Projections: Decourcy, next four. Lunardi, first four to go out. Palm, last four po. Katz said Boisse State needed at least two victories in the conference tournament to make the big dance.
Next match: The state of seeded (23-9) against the new seeded new mexic (26-6)
Analysis: Texas has successfully defeated A&M, but this mid-majeur conference could have several bids of bids if Boisse State continues its race.
Colorado State
Projections: Decourcy, next four. Lunardi, first four to go out. Palm, first four to go out. Katz had rams in his field, classifying them 37th in his power classification earlier this week.
Next match: The second seeded CSU (23-9) against the state of Utah, third seeded (26-6)
Analysis: A game of 16-4 through a better MWC that you yourself should be enough to bring the Rams in. But we know how much the dry is very appreciated this season. But the Colorado State won a match in its conference tournament and another victory over the AGGIES would be enormous and would exert more pressure on Texas.
Dayton
Projections: Decourcy, next four. Lunardi, first four to go out. Palm, first four to go out. Katz does not include Dayton in its ranking, but mentions the flyers as potential tenders if they make a match match.
Next match: Dayton, third seeded (22-9) vs St. Joe’s, sixth seeded (21-11)
Analysis: It could be a title game or a bust for Dayton, which beat Marquette and Connecticut at stake without conference. A third place in Atlantic 10 is a dangerous place to be this season with so many solid conferences and a system that apparently rewards solid major teams above mid-majors.
George Mason
Projections: Decourcy, next four. Lunardi, outside. Palm, outside. Similar to Dayton, Katz does not include George Mason in his ranking, but mentions the patriots as thieves of potential offers if they perform a reigning race.
Next match: George Mason, second seeded (24-7) against George Washington, seventh seeded (21-11)
Analysis: You can almost copy what has been said for Dayton, except that George Mason has no victories without conference. The Pats are based on the domination of the A-10 and a conference title to continue their season.
UC Irvine
Projections: Decourcy, first four to go out. Lunardi, four following. Palm, outside. Katz does not include UC Irvine in its power classification from Monday.
Next match: UC Irvine, second seeded (27-5) VS Cal Poly to head (16-18)
Analysis: UC Irvine has had a wonderful season, but will have to win the Big West title to receive an invitation to the Big Dance, most likely. A record of 17-3 Big West is sparkling, but there are no high victories, Irvine must end her season with a single conference defeat.
Wake Forest
Projections: Decourcy, first four to go out. Lunardi, four following. Palm, outside. Katz did not list Wake Forest in his overview or classification.
Next match: No planned. The demonic deacons lost against the UNC in the ACC tournament on Thursday.
Analysis: Wake Forest had a good season at 21-11 and 13-7 in ACC, but, as mentioned above, the conference is not considered to be the same force as usual. The losses of non-conference against Texas A&M, Florida and Xavier can cancel a victory over Michigan in the eyes of the selection committee.
Villanova
Projections: Disourage, go out. Lunardi, four following. Palm, outside. Katz said that Villanova had always had a shot if he was following his regular season victory over Uconn with another, but the Wildcats could not do it on Thursday.
Next match: No planned. The Wildcats lost to Uconn in the Big East tournament on Thursday.
Analysis: It seems that Nova will be outside in search of the third consecutive season.
