Serie A club Lazio have fired falconer Juan Bernabe after he posted images of his penis implant on social media. Bernabé was responsible for flying the eagle mascot, Olympia, before home matches.
Bernabe posted graphic images and videos of his penile implant on his social media account, prompting the team to fire him. In a press release released by Laziohe declared himself “shocked to see the photographic and video images of Mr. Juan Bernabè and to read the statements which accompanied them”.
The club also acknowledged that not flying Olympia over the Stadio Olimpico before the next home game would be a disappointment for fans, although they felt sacking Bernabe was the right decision.
“The company recognizes the pain, shared by all, that the loss of the Eagle at upcoming home games will cause fans,” the team said.
According to the telegraphBernabe defended his actions on Italian radio, saying he grew up in a “naturist and open-minded family.”
This is the second time that Bernabé has been at the center of a controversy. In 2021, Lazio suspended Bernabe because he was filmed cheering for Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. Bernabé also defended himself in this matter, saying that Mussolini had done “great things” for Italy.
