What you need to know
Florida is 8-2 against Missouri since March 2016, and it will have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The two will face off in an SEC battle at 9 p.m. ET at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. The timing is certainly in the Gators’ favor as the team has 16 straight home wins (dating back to last season) while the Tigers have been hit with 12 straight road losses also dating back to last season.
This past Saturday, Florida earned a 71-63 victory over Arkansas. The 71-point effort marked the Gators’ lowest game of the season, but in the end, that didn’t matter.
Florida can attribute much of its success to Alex Condon, who had a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Condon has been hot recently, recording ten or more rebounds the last three times he has played. Alijah Martin was another key player, scoring 14 points.
Florida broke the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds (they are ranked fourth in total offensive rebounds per game). This strong performance was nothing new for the team: they have now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Missouri managed to pull out a solid win against Vanderbilt on Saturday, winning the game 75-66.
Missouri earned its victory thanks to several key players, but it was Anthony Robinson II up front who scored 15 points plus eight assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Robinson II a new career high in assists. Mark Mitchell was another player who made the difference, going 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds.
Florida’s victory improved its record to 15-1. As for Missouri, its victory improved its record to 13-3.
Tuesday’s game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Florida has been incredibly accurate this season, making 46.7% of its field goals per game. However, it’s not like Missouri is struggling in this department as they have made 49.7% of their field goals this season. Given these competing forces, it will be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Going forward, Florida is the favorite as experts expect them to win by 10.5 points. They might be worth a quick bet since they’re sitting on a five-game covering streak when they expect to win.
