What you need to know
Nets fans have better hope that the team plays a hell of a game on Wednesday, because the odds are decidedly against them. After playing yesterday, they will hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:30 p.m. ET at the Intuit Dome. The Nets have been dropping the ball more recently, as they have increased their point total in each of their last three games.
After struggling through five straight losses, the Nets finally turned things around against the Trail Blazers on Tuesday. They cruised past Portland with points to spare, winning the game 132-114. The game marked Brooklyn’s most dominant victory of the season thus far.
The Nets worked as a unit and finished the game with 36 assists. This is the most assists they have posted since October 2024.
Meanwhile, there’s no place like home for the Clippers, who bounced back from a tough road loss Wednesday. They came away with a 109-98 victory over the Heat on Monday.
The Clippers earned their victory thanks to several key players, but it was Norman Powell up front who scored 12 of 17 en route to 29 points plus six rebounds and three steals. Powell’s night made it three straight games in which he scored at least 30 points. Another player who made the difference was James Harden, who shot 6 of 10 from downtown and had a double-double with 26 points and 11 assists.
Brooklyn’s victory improved its record to 14-26. As for Los Angeles, they improved their record to 21-17 with this victory, which was their fourth in a row at home.
Not only did both teams win their last games in Wednesday’s match, but they also took care of their bettors and covered the spread. As for their next game, the matchup looks promising for the Clippers, as the team is favored by 14.5 points. This contest will be Brooklyn’s 13th straight game as an underdog (so far in that stretch, they are 5-7 ATS).
The Nets fell short against the Clippers in the teams’ last game in January 2024, losing 125-114. Can the Nets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll know soon enough.
