For several years, New York’s Madison Square Garden has held a reserved spot on WWE’s annual live event tour. In 2025, however, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray believes the iconic venue has the potential to host something even bigger, namely John Cena’s televised farewell.
During a recent edition of “Broken open radio” Ray has mapped out a possible route the 16-time world champion could follow for the final dates of his retirement tour, which is expected to end in December. While Cena hails from West Newbury, Massachusetts, Ray has been touring nearby Boston as a notable contender for the final leg. He also pointed out the aforementioned MSG, which WWE and Cena have frequented over the years.
“John was very adamant that he was from Boston and West (Newbury), so I could definitely see that last game being TD (Garden). However, that MSG show in December, that’s a big deal. ‘Hey, where did you have your last match? ‘Madison Square Garden.’ If your last two games were at your home arena, TD Garden and Madison Square Garden, that’s a heck of a 1-2 (combination).”
Rather than drawing MSG for his usual non-televised live event, Ray suggested the idea of using him as host for a special edition of WWE Main Event Saturday Night, which would presumably be simulcast on NBC and Peacock.
“Saturday night’s main event, live from Madison Square Garden. John Cena’s final match. Come on, through the roof,” Ray said.
