A triplehead of the presidents day took place on Monday in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, while TGL took over the air with three fun games. Atlanta Drive and the Bay Golf Club have drawn a double service, while the Los Angeles Golf Club and Boston Common Golf also appeared.
The first match presented the complete TGL experience – the new hammer rule (which gives each team three hammers to use throughout the match), a return for the ages and another session in overtime. In the end, Justin Thomas, Billy Outscape and Patrick Cantlay of Atlanta won a 6-5 victory against Sahith Theegala, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood (despite his heroic) from Los Angeles.
Atlanta seated outside the second match for the beginnings of Lucas Glover. This trio clashed against Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Åberg and Min Woo Lee of the Bay Golf Club, who started quickly and never looked back. While the match was tied late, Clark went up on Clutch and won his two holes in single to win a 6-5 victory and take care of Atlanta.
The game at great listening hours overflowed with energy after two tight games when the bay tried to keep its record undefeated with tact against the Boston Common Golf of Rory McILroy. Just like the first two, the last match needs the 15 holes to determine a winner with Clark capturing the moment and sealing the third consecutive victory of the team with a closing eagle.
Let us see each match again with take -out dishes in person while I attended my first TGL match by taking the prospect of a spectator.
Match 1 – ATL: 6 | LAGC: 5
The man with a few seats of me said several times: “It is the biggest match in the history of the league” – in an inducted way. To be fair, he was right, and I don’t think he was wrong for a while. Los Angeles took the opening sessions of triple 3-2 and seemed that he was going to run away with the match by grasping the first two simple points.
Down by three with as many holes to play, Atlanta used a hammer at the start of the hole (which must be accepted), and he completely returned the match while outside the cuffing of Rose, who made a mess around the green. Fleetwood held Cantlay on the penultimate hole, but Thomas took matters into hand a hole later when he bypassed to force overtime. While Fleetwood made its shot, which should just win the match (in my opinion), outside thechel and Cantlay caught the other two points and the victory of the process.
Match 2 – Bay: 6 | ATL: 5
Atlanta’s exhilarating hammer strategy could not compensate for the slow start in it. The bay took an advance of 3-0 thanks to theaters of short part of Lee, who made her debut in the league and is not surprisingly designed for the arena. Atlanta cut the edge at one when Triple was finished. The bay’s advance doubled when Clark cut Cantlay on the hole of the simple. Thomas again launched the hammer against Lee, and once again, he attached the match a few holes later. This one had overtime written everywhere, but Clark forced the hand of Cantlay when he used a hammer while holding the advantage and made the decision of the third to the last hole to give Atlanta his first loss of the year.
Match 3 – Bay: 5 | BOS: 4
Looking at Shane Lowry instead of Lee, the bay fell early when Hideki Matsuyama used the hammer to perfection. The bay climbed back and led 3-2 at the end of the triple before a simple simple session. Bradley rebounded one of the Greenside on No. 10 and cut Lowry during their second appeal to link it. To preserve the field for the last match between Clark and Matsuyama, it was the American, who took advantage of the moment when he converted his 9-foot eagle putt to push the bay to 3-0 this season and at summit of the ranking.

I did not necessarily know what to expect to attend my first TGL match, in particular by doing it as a spectator. Looking at the players hitting a golf ball in a big screen in person does not ring as if it will move the needle at first glance, but I entered with an open mind ready to fully enjoy the experience.
After taking pictures of my father and his friend – a few guys in the sixties who are exactly the opposite of the targeted public – with a virtual tiger Woods, we headed for our seats and waited until the action begins. The gameplay was explained, the DJ was introduced and the players made their entries. It was time.
Upon entering the match, I assumed that I would fail to hear the players Uns with each other, but I did not do it. Whether it said more about players or myself, I’m not sure. What they did very well, however, was to interact with the crowd. While walking towards green, Theegala has always tried to inject energy into the arena while outsidechel and Fleetwood launched golf balls to young children each time they had – as if they fed hippopotams and hungry.
The most surprising aspect may have been how some fans were in action. Not the children who flooded the arena thanks to the holidays of the presidents day, but rather to the adults, some of whom were so taken in the match that they started to launch a doubtful language to the players (do not joke!) .
Located in perhaps the best area of the arena-lower level directly online with the simulator screen and right next to the putting surface, we were able to get closer to shots like Thomas’s Chip-in to force the hours Additional, Rose’s Kerfuffle That has changed the match and Flair de Fleetwood for the dramatic.
Everything reiterated a point that I have made in the past: although it is a technology -based golf league with many lively lights that draw Oohs and Aah, the best golf course still occurs in person .
If you can swing it, experience TGL for yourself at least once. The proximity to the players and the lack of jockeying had to see some of the best in the world doing what they are doing best is a huge argument of sale. Their guards are broken down, they have fun with it, and this translates not only in golf but over the whole arena.
