One of the biggest stories surrounding the 2019 Masters Tournament could be whether Rory McIlroy, the “The post-Tiger Woods era of golf’s crown prince“, will finally win it all at Augusta National. But something else sparked the conversation Wednesday, and it had little to do with what McIlroy and Woods did on the course β and a lot to do with what the two stars wore.
Social media was fully aware that both golfers were sporting new logos on their polo shirts this week, and after some online searching, the mysterious images were revealed. Woods’ shirt features a cartoon version of Frank, his longtime headgear, and McIlroy wears a miniature Nike shoebox.
Woods’ polo logo is probably the more recognizable of the two, considering how long Frank has been a fixture in Tiger’s career. Woods himself since confirmed the logo: βItβs Frank.β
As for McIlroy’s shoebox, it basically functions as a logo within a logo…within a logo? Talk about a complex campaign!
