Dusty can speak for the whole Michigan basketball Fanbase late Wednesday evening, although joking.

“Obviously, we are big fans of Big Hawkeyes,” said head coach of the first year UM at the Crisler Center after the Wolverines lost 71-65 against Maryland.

This result, of course, meant that Michigan (22-7, 14-5) no longer controls its fate in Big Ten and needs Iowa to eliminate Michigan State (which won at least a part of the title of the League) Thursday in Iowa City (8 p.m., FS1) in order to shock Sunday between Wolverines and Spartans in the East Lans) To bookmark to the big ten.

As much as the Wolverines cross their fingers for this, they are also aware of the situation as a whole.

“All the guys in our locker room have a lot of evidence and context to play basketball at a high level,” said May. “We have to find a way to regroup, to base ourselves and to find this energy and this synergy you need to play the right basketball.

“When you do not finish (on the edge), turning it over and you do not pull it well from 3, you have to try to find other ways. Our guys fought like crazy, dug and tried to win a ugly. We just failed.”

Too many turnover

The most frustrating part of the last loss of UM is perhaps the way it revolved around the problem that afflicted Wolverine wrinkles of the season: turnover.

Michigan had 16 gifts against terps on Wednesday, which led to 21 points, and it was a section reigning in the second period which made the difference. UM had reduced a 12-point deficit to two, 59-57, on a 3 points by Danny Wolf and a defensive stop, with a shot or advance with a little less than seven minutes.

Instead, the disaster struck.

Tre Donaldson launched a pass in the rear area for one of the back, giving terps the ball. Then Julian Reese struck a float. Then Wolf was at fault, but missed the two free throws. Maryland missed its next two shots, sandwiched around a LY-UP from LJ Cason, but Donaldson and Wolf had consecutive reversals, the last of which led to a pair of free terrapins to increase six with 3:48 to play.

On the next possession of UM, Vlad Goldin has been stripped. Maryland quickly increased by eight and UM never got up in a single possession.

“I thought we were excited, we were playing well, we were right on the point,” said May. “We cut it to two but at that time, we thought that we were trying to do a little too much. It was a good place, was not selfish. … But we don’t have the margin for the moment to be able to (resist these turnover).”

Five of these gifts came from Wolf, including four in the second period.

“I don’t really know what happened,” said Wolf afterwards. “I expected what I saw things, then I forced some bad passes. Dude, these reversals in the second period … A difficult loss to say the least.”

In the constant search for money liners, the duo “duo” of Michigan zone 51 “seemed in great shape. Despite the five Wolf gifts, he equaled a match to a match with 20 points and added eight rebounds; Goldin also scored 20 to go with 15 boards. The two 7 feet were combined to reach 17 of the 30 shots on the ground.

“From a personal point of view, the point of view of confidence, I thought I was back to myself,” said Wolf. “I just recalibrated and find my foot.”

No more recalibration required

The problem: there is not enough recalibration in progress.

Michigan 6-11 or shorter players made only 10 of the 32 shots against Maryland, which included five of the 16 attempts. Although Donaldson finished with 10 points, it was on 40% (4 for 10). After having an average of 12.9 points per match out of 47.2% in its first 24 games, it has an average of 7.7 points out of 34.6% by pulling its last six.

Meanwhile, Cason (1 for 4), Will Tschetter (1-Pour-5), Roddy Gayle Jr. (1 for 3) and Rubin Jones (0 for 2) all fought from the ground. Even Nimari Burnett (3 for 8) was out of its usual form.

“Usually the cash register occurs when you play good teams,” admitted May. “When you look at our schedule, we knew that it would be a challenge. We put ourselves in position … but generally the DIP coincides with the calendar.”

Naturally, the calendar does not become easier, at least not this week.

The final wolverine stop of the regular season is the Breslin Center, in terms of being a noisy crowd that will seek to win a title of pure and famous league or to celebrate its imminent banner.

Coming: Spartans

Of course, this last option could lend itself to UM. Although the Wolverines lost Wednesday for the third time in five games, the second half against Maryland (apart) was probably the best 20 minutes that the team played in two weeks. Michigan just searches for 40 minutes.

A victory over MSU would send the May team into the playoffs with confidence that she has apparently not had for weeks. But no matter what is happening Thursday in Iowa, UM knows its mission.

“If Iowa wins, then we’re going to be back where we were before this match,” said a Wolf full of hope. “We are going to enter Breslin on Sunday to compete. Even if Michigan State wins, we will enter this match knowing that it has very great implications for sowing and what no.

“But I think we don’t want to look too far in the future, no matter what’s going on tomorrow evening, just go to the game of Michigan State knowing that if it or not has the implications of the regular season of Big Ten, no matter. We have to go as if it was the biggest game of the year, because it is.”
