LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball remained No. 7 in the updated USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after not playing a game over the holiday break.
The Jayhawks (9-2) are still considered one of the top 10 teams in the country. There hasn’t been much movement in the top 10, like elsewhere in the top 25. Kansas’ next game is Tuesday at home against West Virginia.

The Jayhawks’ Big 12 Conference slate begins with this game against the Mountaineers. After that, they’ll be on the road Jan. 5 against UCF. This is not a set of two teams that many would pick to win a national title, but nevertheless two teams that could challenge KU.
Kansas follows No. 3 Iowa State in the top 10, when it comes to Big 12 teams. They are joined in the top 25 by No. 14 Houston, No. 17 Cincinnati and No. °21 Baylor. The Big 12 is a talented league, but the Southeastern Conference appears to have the edge at this point in the season.
