The legend of table tennis in India, Sharath Kamal, announced on Wednesday that the candidate for WTT Chennai later this month will be his last tournament as a professional art, capping an illustrious career extending much more than two decades. The WTT (World Table Tennis) event will be played here from March 25 to 30. “I played my first international tournament in Chennai, I will also play my latest international in Chennai. It will be my last tournament as a professional art,” said the 42 -year -old man here. Sharath has won as many six gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and he would assess them with the two bronze medals of the Asian Games he obtained later in his career.
He participated in his fifth and last Olympic Games in Paris last year.
“I have medals for Commonwealth Games and Asian games medals. The Olympic medal is something I don’t have in my cupboard.
“I hope I can live this dream through the youngest talent to come,” said the world’s number 42, which is still the best classified Indian in the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation).
