The Tigers held first place in the survey for the fifth consecutive week on Monday, receiving 34 votes in first place in a media panel of 61 people. N ° 2 Alabama mounted a place and had 23 votes of first place, at only nine points behind Auburn, while Florida obtained three votes and n ° 5 Tennessee has one.
Duke was tied with Florida at n ° 3, with the n ° 9 St. John’s which moved into the top 10 for the first time since the end of the 1999-2000 season at n ° 9.
Uconn abandoned the survey of n ° 19 after a home loss of 68-62 against St. John’s on Friday, ending the fourth longer active sequence in the country (53 weeks).
Florida has its highest rank since it reached No. 1 in 2013-2014 after defeating Auburn, 90-81, for the first real victory on the road against a leading team in the history of program. It was the second victory of the Gators against a best-classified team this season after beating then-no. 1 Tennessee at home on January 7.
Auburn had won 14 games in a row and was unanimous n ° 1 in the past three weeks.
Tigers were not the only best team to lose.
Duke abandoned two places in n ° 4 after a defeat of 77-71 against n ° 23 Clemson ended his sequence of 16 consecutive victories. N ° 10 Iowa statement also dropped two places after losing 69-52 at n ° 17 Kansas. Cyclones reached their highest ranking ever in n ° 2 last month, but lost three in a row before exploding TCU on Saturday.
Huskies flowing
Uconn started the season at No. 3 and climbed to No. 2 in his attempt to become the first team since the Bruins of the UCLA of John Wooden to win three consecutive national championships in the early 1960s.
Uconn (16-7, 8-4 Big East) lost three of the five and was fourth in the Big East, 3.5 games behind St. John’s.
“I am very optimistic,” said Uconn coach Dan Hurley. “I think that for the moment, this is the very good time to play us. I think we have a chance in February to roll this thing and appear very different in March.”
Get up and fall

Conference surveillance
The SEC had at least nine election teams for the seventh consecutive week, including the first three and five of the first 10. No other league had more than six teams classified during a week this season.
The Big Ten has six classified teams, followed by Big 12 with five and Big East with three. The ACC and American Athletic conference each had one.
