Alphonso Davies agreed with a new contract at Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga Club announced on Tuesday, ending the long -term pursuit of the Real Madrid player.
The Davies agreement with the Bavarian giants takes place until the end of the 2029-30 season and would see his stay there reaching 11 years if he played the contract.
“I am very happy to have extended my contract to this big club”, Davies said in a press release.
“I came to FC Bayern when I was 18 and I just wanted to learn as much as possible every day to become one of the best in my position. Now I can’t wait for five years together. I already have Much made here, but there is more to come. “
ESPN reported last summer that Madrid wanted to sign Canada International Davies, 24 – whose previous agreement was to expire in June 2025 – if an agreement on costs could be concluded with Bayern.
When this move did not materialize, Madrid has remained wishing to bring Davies to a free transfer this summer as part of a defense overhaul which, according to them, will also see the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnoldwhose Liverpool contract also expires at the end of the season.
However, Bayern continued to put pressure for Davies to remain, offering the player an improved renewal.
“Alphonso Davies has become one of the best players in the world in his post in Bayern and has aroused a lot of interest,” said sports director of the German club, Christoph Freund.
“The fact that he wants to continue here with the United States shows Bayern status in international football and that Alphonso has found his sports house in Munich.”
Davies was still considering its options last month, a source told ESPN, before finally choosing to stay with the German team.
Davies has played 16 appearances for Bayern in the Bundesliga this season under the coach Vincent Kompany, marking once as a team is located at the top of the League table.
He joined the Bayern of Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019 and has since become one of the most well rated left players in world football.
Madrid sought to improve their options on the left back, with doubts about their two existing options, Ferland Mendy And Fran GarcÃa.
Laliga giants have gotten into the habit of signing elite players on free transfers in recent seasons, especially Kylian Mbappé In 2024, Antonio Rüdiger in 2022 and David rents in 2021.
