3rd quarter report
Their last head-to-head in April was close, and so far it looks like that’s how the Timberwolves and Hawks will finish this one. After three quarters, neither team has the game in the bag, but the Timberwolves lead 85-82 over the Hawks.
If the Timberwolves continue to play like this, they will reach their record of 15-13 in no time. On the other hand, the Hawks will have to settle for a 14-16 record unless they turn things around (and quickly).

What you need to know
The Minnesota Timberwolves make a road trip to take on the Atlanta Hawks at 7:30 p.m. ET Monday at State Farm Arena. The Hawks have the home-court advantage, but the Timberwolves should win by 3.5 points.
Pundits predicted the Timberwolves would head in after a win, but the Warriors made sure that didn’t happen. The Timberwolves took a 113-103 hit in the loss column to the Warriors on Saturday. Minnesota has now taken an “L” in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, the Timberwolves saw several players rise to the challenge and perform remarkable actions. Rudy Gobert, author of a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Gobert struggled to find his feet against the Knicks on Thursday, so this was a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, the Hawks’ recent rough patch got a little tougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They lost to the Grizzlies at home by a decisive margin of 128-112. Atlanta trailed 100-76 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too difficult to recover from.
Minnesota’s loss dropped its record to 14-13. As for Atlanta, they now have a losing record at 14-15.
The Timberwolves bypassed the Hawks 109-106 in their previous matchup in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the team won’t have home-court advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change of location makes a difference.
