Scenarios
Bayer Leverkusen: If someone can come back from a deficit of three goals, it may be Bayer Leverkusen, who succeeded here at the back of a record season during which he has avoided the defeat repeatedly and in the most dramatic circumstances. They entered the first leg on an undefeated race for eight games, but have since lost twice, recording a surprise defeat on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat against Werder Bremen. To make things more difficult, they will be without midfielder Florian Wirtz, who injured the ligament on Saturday. Replacement of its 15 goals, 12 passage passing will make the dropout phase in the quarter-finals of the Champions League a high task, even against a somewhat sensitive Bayern team. They will also be without Nordi Mukiele, which was sent during a second half-marddesque half last week.
Bayern Munich: Things have not always been simple for Bayern in the Champions League this season, but the scales finally overthrew their favor last week thanks to Leverkusen’s capitulation in the second half of the first leg. This victory extended their undefeated race at 10, although it suddenly stopped on Saturday when they went down to 10 and lost 3-2 against Bochum in the Bundesliga. The result has not put any bump in his campaign to win the league because they still have an advance of eight points on Leverkusen and will probably not spoil their momentum in the Champions League. They may have been imperfect during their European race so far, but blowing a 3-0 is easier to say than to do, even without the injured manual Neuer.
Projected lines
Bayer Leverkusen: Hradecky, Tapsoba, Tah, Nervous, Arthur, Xhaka, Garcia, Tella, Adli, Buendia, Schick
Bayern Munich: Urbig, Laimer, Upamecano, Kim, Davies, Goretzka, Kimmich, Olise, Musiala, Coman, Kane
Prediction
Even if Leverkusen has played well against Bayern in the past, doing it without two impactful players at Florian Wirtz and Nordi Mukiele will be a considerable challenge. Expect Bayern easily taking into account the circumstances and survive the second stage, even if there is a minor complication along the way. Take: Bayer Leverkusen 1, Bavaria Munich 0
