Big ten late at night | The bank is open

Just a game, a lot of fun

Well, that’s how it’s done. If you will have only one conference match at one night, go as well as this game 73-70 Ohio State-Maryland.

Maryland looked like world players to start, jumping on an advance of 14-2 where the size of Maryland corresponded to a bunch of mid-range riders who had the Buckeyes in shock from the tip.

But Bruce Thornton was absolutely spectacular, making 31 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists while playing 40 minutes. He also had three interceptions and a block.

Thornton is college basketball like any player in the past decade. He held his team together despite important problems, and an evening of 1 of the 7 of John Mobley.

Winner of the game, Bank Breaker, Dance Maker

But as well as Thornton was – what absolutely brutal way to finish a ball game where the two teams played well. Just a possession or two before, Derik Queen blocked a Thornton float and pulling a fault at the other end to take an advance from one point.

Thus, when the long disputed of Thornton, three shot the glass and entered, terraaps around the world probably rocked his head and wanted to get back into their shells.

But for Ohio State, this blow could make the difference between the buckeyes that make the NCAA tournament or not. The Buckeyes add another Top-20 victory to go with his victory to Purdue, a victory against Kentucky on a neutral floor and a victory in Texas to start the season. These quality victories and a favorable end -of -season calendar should have Ohio State leaning towards the right side of the bubble. 6-2 should be more than feasible for the last eight games of the Ohio State season. This would leave the Ohio State at 22-11, and almost a lock for the NCAA tournament and probably a half decent sowing.

Julian Reese on fire

Shout Reese who dominated Maryland in the last four games. He was again great against Ohio State, marking 24 points out of only 9 shooting attempts. He had 10 out of 11 of the free throw line and he made a strong push for the all-big ten selection.

Oh and he added 13 rebounds for this clean double-double. He almost knocked out the Illinois in a crisis and he continues to choose teams that do not have big dominant to hold him against him.

Tomorrow is (only again!) The match of the night!

Another unique header tomorrow while the # 7 Purdue hosts USC in MacKey Arena for the first time.

The USC is full of the length of the wing and the style of play that has given Purdue some problems in the past. Should be a decent game, certainly if Purdue comes out slow as he did against Iowa or Indiana in the last two games.
