Brighton vs Chelsea: Enzo Maresca decreases “worst performance”

Chelsea’s head coach Enzo Maresca said that “everything” went wrong when his team had succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in Brighton on Friday, describing him as the worst performance of his mandate.

He marked the second time in a week that Chelsea fell in fault with the team of Fabian Hurzeler. The side of Maresca, who was without Nicolas Jackson And Marc Guiu By injury, were swelled at the front and failed to record a single blow on the target.

“My frustration was everything,” said Maresca to Sky Sports after the loss. “We are sorry for the fans who came. In the position we are, arriving with 14 games to do, we have to do much better.

“We are at a time when we think we can concede easily and have trouble scoring. I think before the goal, they have not had a few chances. There are a lot of things that we can do better.

“This is now the moment when we have to stay together. I still feel pressure, but it was the worst performance since my arrival. We are always fourth and always in the race to finish in Europe.”

They remain fourth in the table, although one of Manchester City or Newcastle United can jump them with a victory in their confrontation on Saturday.
