Given the total shock surrounding the recent turn of the heel of John Cena, fans of struggle continue to compare it to that of Hulk Hogan, which took place in WCW Bash at the beach in 1996. Which will have a more widespread impact? According to the WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, it’s probably the latter.
“Hogan turning the heel, I think it will be a bigger heel tour than that of Cena, because I don’t think “Drunk open radio.”
For 15 years, Hogan was a favorite of fans in promotions such as the American Wrestling Association (AWA), WCW and WWE, the latter in which he undoubtedly emerged as the face of. In July 1996, however, this status radically changed when he revealed himself as a partner of the Tag team of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash at WCW Bash to the beach by delivering a pair of atomic legs to Randy Savage. Subsequently, Hogan declared Hall, Nash and himself as “the new world control of the struggle”, thus marking the beginning of the legendary new world order (also known as NWO).
Meanwhile, the Cena heel turn came after a 21 -year -old Babyface race, with the undisputed champion of WWE Cody Rhodes as a target. Cena and Rhodes, now opponents of Wrestlemania 41, will again be under the same roof in the episode of tomorrow “Wwe Raw” in Brussels. As Ray pointed out, however, the duration of Cena’s passage as heel was questioned, especially since he plans to conclude his career in the ring at the end of 2025.
