The bus transporting the IU Indianapolis male basketball team caught fire along the Interstate 275 on Sunday evening while the Jaguars returned home from a match in northern Kentucky earlier.
A video published on social networks shows an imposing smoke panache emanating from the bus and firefighters closing traffic while trying to extinguish the fire. The photos shared by @ wishnews8 show the charred shell of a charter bus with burnt seats and no remaining window or roof.

All members of the IU Indianapolis Traveling Party evacuated the bus without injury, according to IU IU of Indianapolis sports director Luke Bosso described the Yahoo Sports incident as “scary and chaotic” and said that players and staff have lost anything from computers, mobile phones Going through fire equipment.
“More importantly, everyone is fine,” said Bosso.
A “mechanical problem” caused the fire, said the IU Indianapolis press release. When asked if he could provide other details, Bosso said: “That’s all we have right now.”
Bosso said the IU Indianapolis basketball team arrived at home safely on Sunday evening. Charter Bus sent a second bus to pick up the jaguars and bring them back to Indianapolis.
To add to the misery for IU Indianapolis, the jaguars lost in the north of Kentucky 71-67 Sunday to fall at 9-20 this season. IU Indianapolis had two home games in the regular season, one against Robert Morris on Thursday and the other against Wright State two days later.
