The 1st round of the 12-team College Football Playoff is officially on the books. Penn State, Texas and Ohio State each advance to the quarterfinals after blowout victories.
Caroline, Fitz, and Adam give their general reactions to the very first games of the first round, including the importance of home-court advantage and why there will always be blowouts no matter how big the playoffs get. The trio breaks down each of Saturday’s matches and gives their “Power House” and “Power Outage” from the first round. Penn State’s defense proved its worth by causing chaos for Kevin Jennings and SMU. Texas has shown it can beat just about anyone when its running game is firing on all cylinders. And Ryan Day brought Ohio State back into the national title race despite losing to Michigan while they steamrolled Tennessee.
