Chris Eubank Jr. was forced to go through an airport style security check before being authorized to participate in the second press conference for his fight with Conor Benn.
During the press conference on Tuesday launch, Eubank Jr. reached his pocket for an egg, then delivered a powerful left -handed slap through Benn’s cheek when the pair clashed for the first time before their fully British resentment match of April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
The Non-Couronne revealed Wednesday that the British Boxing Board of Control will call Eubank Jr. before an audience in the coming days to decide if it will be punished and to what measure for Tuesday’s offense. It is likely to be presented with a heavy fine.
In particular, there was an increased presence in terms of security at the press conference on Thursday. When the pair clashed, they were retained by a safety horde trying to avoid a repeat on Tuesday clues.
Eubank began the procedure with a speech on its actions on Tuesday.
“Did I cross the line? During this whole process in the past two and a half years, I think that many lines have been crossed,” said Eubank. “I am sitting here today, on stage, with two of the most boxing waste characters, in my opinion: a drug cheat and a man who did everything in his power to help him get away with it.
“So, me throwing an egg on someone who absurdly claims that this is the reason why he failed two drug screening tests, the contamination of eggs. I think it’s light, and I think that deserved. I think it was worthy of what happened. If I had the opportunity to do it again, I could not sneak myself (I could not sneak (eggs).
Similar to Tuesday’s conference, Eubank Jr. refused to leave Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn de Match Boxing, obtain an uninterrupted sentence. Whenever Hearn opened his mouth to speak, he was met by Eubank speaking about him and reminding the promoter that it was not of him.
Eubank’s attack on Hearn de Matchroom can be compared to the War of David Haye’s words in 2017 with Hearn before the main confrontation of Haye domestic heavyweights with Tony Bellew. Haye told Hearn that it was not “The Eddie Hearn Show” in a rant intended for the promoter of the Haye-Bellew 1 press conference.
“You have fought for the IBO World title in a leisure center,” Benn told Eubank. “This is your greatest success. I refused (a shot in the IBO title), this is not a legitimate world title.
“He’s an idiot, that’s all that there is to tell him. I can’t wait for it to be broken into pieces on April 26.
“His own team does not even like him, look at his team, they pretend … (promoter of Eubank, Ben Shalom, of the) course he is (pretending), he is not even paid.”
Benn declared at the first press conference that neither the father of Eubank – the legendary British boxer Chris Eubank Sr. – nor his team really liked Eubank Jr., and reiterated the point at the conference on Thursday.
When Shalom tried to correct Benn, he met a threat of being slapped by Benn. And it is fair to say that I certainly thought that Benn would perform this threat when the pair was on the football field of Tottenham Hotspur later in the afternoon.
Eubank Jr. and Benn clashed twice at the end of Thursday’s press conference. Things have become intense the second time they clashed alongside the height.
“(You do as if) you have reflexes,” said Benn to Eubank Jr. “Let me take a step back and pretend as if I’m back. Let me take a step back and pretend as if I had my reflexes. You are old, and you are shot in pieces. You are old, you are washed, you are done.”
The Fathers of Fighters, Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, had two historic fights in the 1990s which captured the attention of the British public. In 1990, Eubank Sr. arrested Benn to win the WBO average weight title in a fight still largely considered to be one of the best in the history of British boxing. Three years later, 16.5 million people in Great Britain watched the couple fight against a draw in Old Trafford, Manchester United’s house.
Their sons had to rekindle the rivalry in 2022, but the highly anticipated fight was canceled at the last minute after Benn’s positive test for Clomifène was revealed during the fighting week. The WBC finally eliminated Benn from reprehensible acts, blaming the unfavorable conclusions on a “high egg consumption”, hence the reason why Eubank Jr. broke an egg on Connor Benn during Tuesday playing.
Benn will reappear a BBBOFC license for his April 26 fight with Eubank Jr. The British boxer notoriously allowed his license after meeting seven accusations of misconduct by the board of directors after his drug tests.
Now that Benn has been authorized by the national anti -doping panel, he has made amends with the BBBOFC and will fight again under his jurisdiction.
