Texas A&M (9-2) came on strong in the second half to beat No. 11 Purdue (8-3) 70-66 in the Indy Classic at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Quad 1/2 wins are starting to fill out the Aggies’ resume, and after Saturday’s win, they jumped up the KenPom rankings and notched their third Quad Victory 1. A&M is a mature team that grew through the non-conference schedule and put together one of its betting shootout games of the season. They shot 44% from the field and nearly 41% from the three-point line. When asked after the game where the Aggies have improved since last season’s second-round loss to Houston, Wade Taylor had this to say.

A&M stacks up quality wins ahead of SEC play
Ohio State, Creighton, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Purdue. That’s a crazy number of notable victories to have before Christmas. This should put the Aggies in a prime position heading into a loaded SEC, which could very well be the best it’s ever been.

The SEC is the conference to beat
(17) Texas A&M win in Indianapolis vs. (11) Purdue moves SEC to 17-8 in non-conference play against AP Top-25 teams.
That’s 4 more non-conference regular season wins than any other league has ever had in a season, with more opportunities to come… https://t.co/CnZfGlLxD9

The SEC will battle against each other in non-conference games, which will be key
The SEC is shaping up to be a real meat grinder, but Texas A&M’s non-conference resume will hold its weight in March.
The Aggies are looking at an 11-2 start heading into the championship game if they can win two guaranteed games against Houston Christian and Abilene Christian.

Purdue made a run at the end but it wasn’t good enough
If you’re wondering if the Boilermakers have what it takes to beat the Aggies, they don’t.

Even D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers can appreciate A&M’s schedule
This is a rather non-confidential CV

Buzz scores a big victory in a hostile arena
Buzz Williams coached a masterful play leading his Aggies to a de facto road victory over Purdue. It’s almost like the SEC has a lot of good teams.

Texas A&M could enter SEC play just outside the top ten
It’s a great win for Texas A&M against Purdue. The Aggies have now won 5 in a row – and all 5 have won major tournaments (Creighton, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Boilers). Buzz Williams has a top 10-15 team in the country in the LOADED SEC.

The Aggies have not lost while the entire roster is healthy
Texas A&M is now 9-2 in non-conference games with 3 wins in Quad 1. 5-2 in Quads 1 and 2.
The Aggies are 9-0 at full strength. Phelps missed the opener against UCF and Solo was injured early against Oregon.
Five straight wins in the last two weeks!

The revaluation of the non-conference schedule is bearing fruit
Another one for Texas A&M!
Aggies have built a fantastic non-conference resume. “Neutral” 70-66 victory against Purdue. 16 points on perfect shooting off the bench from Pharrel Payne was a huge boost.
Aggies wins: Ohio St, Wake and neutral against Creighton, RU, TTU and Purdue.
In recent years,…
