When Corey Graves was moved from “WWE SmackDown” to “WWE NXT” two weeks ago, it almost seemed like a non-story. Two weeks later, it’s become arguably the biggest story so far in 2025, with a pair of heated social media posts and Graves’ removal from the telecasts of “NXT” and “Speed” from last week questioning his future in WWE.
But a new report suggests everything has potentially been ironed out. Combative selection reports that Graves is expected to do commentary on tonight’s episode of “NXT,” and members of WWE’s third brand expect him to be at rehearsals this afternoon. This contrasts sharply with an earlier story from PWInsider Elitewhich claimed that Graves should not be a part of “NXT” for the second week in a row.
If this new information comes to light, it would either mean that a resolution has been reached between Graves and WWE, or that the entire situation was, in fact, a job, as some had speculated throughout last week. Those close to Graves continued to insist that he was legitimately upset that WWE was moved from “SmackDown” to “NXT,” and Fightful reiterated that that appears to remain the case today.
Whether Graves’ relationship with WWE has been fully mended or remains fragile is almost irrelevant, as Graves’ contractual situation with WWE almost guaranteed that he would remain with the promotion for a while, barring a separation even more complicated. According to reports, Graves and WWE have agreed to a new contract in early 2024, which would keep Graves locked up for several years.
