Yesterday afternoon, news emerged that a trio of stars absent from the AEW were no longer contracted with the company; Ricky Starks, Malakai Black and Miro would now be free to appear with any promotion they would like. Since history has broken, the general hypothesis of wrestling fans is that the three men will sign with WWE, and speak “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Dave Meltzer said he was more than confident about one of them.
“Ricky Starks, I would be almost sure (to see) WWE, Black, I’m sure, and Miro – I would just say that I expect but I can’t say that I am sure,” said Meltzer.
Meltzer said the Black contract was about to expire, while Starks and Miro had more time but received their outings. Although he frequently denied their veracity, there have been rumors for a long time that Black wanted to leave AEW in favor of WWE under the direction of Paul “Triple H” of Levesque. However, Black had continued to make appearances on AEW TV before its release, while Starks and Miro have not been used for some time.
Rey Fenix was apparently not among the outings yesterday because he is still on the company’s website. Fenix publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with his treatment in AEW, and his brother and partner of the Tag team, Penta, has already made his WWE early this year with a lot of brass band.
Meltzer had no final answer on the reason why Fenix was not included in yesterday’s outings, but he hypothesized that it had to do with the “War of Wrestling” between the two promotions . The host of the Podcast said that if the shoe was on the other, WWE would almost certainly keep an artist under contract rather than granting early release so that he can work in rival society.
