WWE commentator Corey Graves shared his frustrations with joining the “WWE NXT” announce team on social media on Monday, saying he was told he wasn’t ” quite famous” for the main roster. The nature of Graves’ outburst, whether it was a planned angle or a genuine emotional reaction, remained unclear. However, Dave Meltzer revealed on “Wrestling Observer Radio” that he was told that Graves was genuinely upset with his position in WWE.
“It seems like it’s real, you know his problem. You never know for sure, I mean, every person in WWE that I talked to said it wasn’t an angle. He didn’t hasn’t been fired yet… the fact that he deleted his tweets and said maybe he changed his mind or they told him, you better delete your tweets or else, and maybe he didn’t want either. Meltzer explained that WWE had planned for Joe Tessitore and Graves to be the announce team for “WWE SmackDown” in January, but plans changed before “WWE Raw” debuted on Netflix. He added that Graves had. probably been informed a few weeks before that Wade Barrett would replace him within the blue brand.
“I just know that’s when he found out he wasn’t going to be on SmackDown like he thought he was, so he was really upset…why would you go on Twitter and do everything That, I can’t answer that question. There are people out there who think he was trying to get himself fired and that’s why he did it.” Meltzer suggested that if Graves was trying to get himself fired. get fired, WWE probably wouldn’t not, fearing he would join AEW, and would likely suspend him instead.
