CM Punk’s backstage behavior has been praised since his return to WWE, and Diamond Dallas Page is the latest person to credit the veteran’s controversial backstage tag. Speaking on “Preview with Chris Van Vliet”, DDP revealed that he ran into Punk at this year’s WWE SummerSlam, noting that the “Straight Edge Superstar” was respectful towards him.
“For me, I’m a fan of CM Punk and all his punkism, you know? Just how he connects with people and it’s so over. When he saw me, he literally came over, made me a hug, and said, “Hey man, I just want to say welcome and thank you for paving the way, that was super cool of Punk, I already had a lot of respect for him.” , but this moment really meant a lot to me.
Punk was fired by AEW following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In 2024. At the time, he had just returned to AEW after the infamous Brawl Out situation and a stint on the touches to recover from an injury. However, he said he is much happier in WWE because he thinks everyone is more professional. Punk also criticized AEW star Adam Page for saying he doesn’t listen to veterans. So it’s no surprise to learn that Punk showed respect to DDP, who has been in the wrestling business for decades.
DDP was also in attendance for WWE Bad Blood 2024, where he revealed that he had signed a Legends contract. As such, he could attend more events and get the chance to get to know Punk even more.
