Je’von Evans had a better chance of going out victorious in WWE NXT Vengeance Day than its two previous premium live events, which both involved many competitors. In his first single fight, however, Evans was again short, falling on Ethan Page in a match that saw “All Ego” emerging bloody but victorious.
The match was the culmination (at least so far) of the quarrel between Page and Evans, which started when Page tried to “take the smile of Evans” – not the most surprising development of a reserved show by Shawn Michaels. A kayfabe injury at Evans jaw was a key element of the quarrel and therefore it was a key element in the match, Evans making a large demonstration of a dial protector during his entry. At one point, Page started to bleed strongly from his nose after an Evans cutter on the apron, but he was able to continue to fight until the arrival, which saw the page against another attempted cup with a Punch with the wounded jaw of Evans. Page then hit the twisted smile to get the three account and bring Evans to a 0-3 Ple record.
It remains to be seen if the page quarrel with Evans continues in Stand & Deliver in April, in particular given the potential implications (Kayfabe) of the page jaw, which poetically sent the flying duties. Page must also think about how he reacted to the arrival of his ex-star colleague from A-AEW, Ricky Starks, who signs his “NXT” contract in Tuesday episode.
