The draw of the Channel of the players in the new UEFA Europa League is upon us.

But who participates in this draw? Why are the positions of the league phase so important? And when is the next draw?

Here’s how it will work.

When is the draw for the turn of the playoffs?

The draw for the turn of the playoffs will take place on Friday at 7 a.m. in the United Kingdom on Friday at 7:00 am at the European Football House in Nyon, Switzerland.

What clubs are in Friday draw?

Only the 16 teams that finish in positions 9 to 24 will have an interest.

The clubs that finish in the first eight go directly to 16 years.

Clubs finishing from 25th to 36 are eliminated.

Is this important where you finish in the table?

Yes, because the investments of the league create direct elimination support. Unlike previous seasons, where there would be open prints, paths will be defined once this phase is finished.

The new “seeding” system means that the highest teams cannot compete until these last stages of the Tour with direct elimination.

For example, if we are looking at the table at the moment, Lazio and Eintracht Frankfurt are first and second, and they could not play each other before the final. The third and fourth teams – currently Athletic Club and Manchester United – cannot play Lazio and Eintracht Francfurt before the semi -finals.

Finishing seventh or eighth could be considered as creating a more difficult path than the 11th or 12th, because it would mean facing the first or second of the quarterfinals. The 11 and 12th teams avoid this to the semi-final, but must play an additional turn.

How does direct elimination draw work?

In the draw for direct elimination qualifiers, the teams are twinned by their final position, in order (for example 9 and 10, 11 and 12, etc.).

From each pair, the teams will be drawn into opposite halves of the support. For example, the 15th (Union St.-Gilloie), 16th (Ajax) will separate and will not be able to play each other before the final (which is the case for all pairs).

Before the draw, the twin teams will have two possible opponents. If we again take Union St.-Gilloise and Ajax, they will be attracted to play the 17th (PAOK) or the 18th (Real Sociedad).

The eight teams not evaluated are first attracted to a position in the support. It starts with the 23 and 24th, and descends to the 17th and 18th. In each case, the first drawn team enters the first half of the support (say PAOK), which means that the other club of the pair (which would be the real Sociedad) enters the second half.

The draw then goes to the seeded teams, continuing with 15th and 16th until ninth and 10th. Again, the first drawn team enters the first half of the support (so if it’s Ajax, they would play PAOK) – which automatically creates a round match of the playoffs – and so on with the other team twinned in the second half (which makes the union St.-Gilloïse vs real sociedad).

Seed clubs will play the second stage at home.

So there is no protection against the country?

Correct. Clubs in the same country can play each other from the turnover of the playoffs.

It is also possible to draw one of the eight teams you have already faced – including the most recent opponents of Matchday 8.

What dates are the direct elimination eliminations?

First Jamms: February 13
Second legs: February 20

So what about the eight best clubs?

After the qualifying of the playoffs, the teams that finish in the top eight will still have four possible opponents.

For example, the third (sports club) and the sixth (Man United) could still play one of the 13th, 14th, 19th or 20th (Rangers, Az Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Ellsborg). Indeed, Athletic and Man United could still be trained in one or the other half, but only in specific paths for these lights.

Once the eliminatory turn has been completed, and two of these clubs have been eliminated, Athletic and Man United would have two possible opponents to play: the winners of the eliminatory standard.

When is the draw for 16 years?

The match 16 then took place on Friday, February 21, when Athletic and Man United would simply be trained in the opposite halves of the support – which would create one of the winners of the links involving rangers, Az Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Ellsborg .

The teams placed first at eighth are sown and will be at home in the return match.

First Jamms: March 6
Second legs: March 13

Direct elimination support is now set to the final.

Who obtains a home advantage in the quarterfinals and in the semi-finals?

There will be one more draw, just after the end of 16 years, to determine the home teams in the second stage for the quarter-finals and the semi-finals. This is not done on sowing in the league phase.
