The Washington Commanders have been one of the best stories of the year in the NFL, and after pulling off a last-second victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16, Jayden Daniels and company are heading into a game in Week 17 against the Atlanta Falcons. which they can clinch a playoff spot for the first time in five seasons.
The probable offensive rookie of the year is the straw that breaks the camel’s back in Washington, with 22 touchdown passes on a success rate of almost 70% this season. Oh, and the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner also lived up to the hype on the field with a team-leading 737 rushing yards and six rushing scores.
The Falcons enter Week 17 in the race for the NFC South, and wins over the final two weeks will mean a top division title for Atlanta since 2016, the season they reached Super Bowl 51. Atlanta has made a change radical for the present and future before last week, replacing struggling quarterback Kirk Cousins with rookie Michael Penix Jr. Penix threw for over 200 yards in his first NFL start, and the Falcons have won their last two as the club inches closer to its first playoff appearance in eight years.
The Buccaneers, however, beat the Panthers on Sunday and took a momentary lead in the division. If the Falcons don’t win, the Buccaneers look to the title and playoff spot.
