Fenerbahce’s coach Jose Mourinho received a ban on four games and sentenced to a fine of more than 40,000 euros by the Turkish Football Federation Thursday for comments he made after an Istanbul Derby explosive against Galatasaray. After Monday’s match ended in a 0-0 dead end, Mourinho, 62, said that the reception bench had “jumped like monkeys”. He would also have repeated his criticism of Turkish referees. Fenerbahce said Mourinho’s comments had been released from their context.
On Thursday, the disciplinary council of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) made a suspension of two games for its comments against the fourth referee and two additional games for its explosion on the Galatasaray bench.
They were deemed “unlike sports ethics”.
Mourinho, whose trail leaders of the Galatasaray team by six points of the table, were also sentenced to a fine of just over 42,000 euros.
