Since her departure from WWE in May, former WWE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has kept a relatively low profile, making occasional public/comic-con appearances, or showing up at WWE’s major media event with Netflix earlier this month. But as 2024 comes to a close, Lynch has decided to take on a new project: unfortunately for wrestling fans, it doesn’t involve Lynch returning to the ring.
On Monday afternoon, an enthusiastic Lynch announced that she will star in the first season of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” which will premiere on Paramount+ in 2025.
“You know, when you’re a world champion, there’s only one place to go next, and that’s… the stars!” Lynch said in a video. “And I’m so excited to share with you all that I’m joining “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” as a member of the Bridge Team. And guys, it’s been the most incredible experience, playing alongside… .just a spectacular cast and crew. And I can’t wait for you all to watch it when it comes out on Paramount+.

A sequel to the Paramount+ series “Star Trek: Discovery,” “Starfleet Academy” follows a new wave of Starfleet cadets and their rise through the ranks. In addition to Lynch, the series will star Academy Award winner Holly Hunter as the chancellor of Starfleet Academy and comedian Tig Notaro as the engineer. Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti, “Orphan Black” star Tatiana Maslany and “The Mummy” star Oded Fehr also star in recurring or guest roles.
“Starfleet Academy” is expected to air for ten episodes during its first season. However, at the moment it is unclear whether the series will air in 2025 or 2026.
