What you need to know
If the bettors’ predictions hold true, the near future looks bright for Duke. They and the Va. Tech Hokies will face off in an ACC battle on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. ET at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils will look to keep their seven-game home winning streak alive.
Last Saturday, Duke humiliated Georgia Tech with a score of 82-56. The Blue Devils have made a habit of putting opponents off the field, having won seven games by 21 points or more this season.
Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach were among Duke’s key playmakers as the former went 7 of 11 en route to 18 points plus five assists and the latter made all 5 of his shots, racking up 15 points plus eight rebounds. Knueppel’s performance made up for a slower game against George Mason two weeks ago.
Duke worked as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outscored their opponents in this department as Georgia Tech only posted 12.
Meanwhile, Go. Tech managed to trail Saint Joseph’s until halftime last Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Go. Tech might have gotten into the holiday spirit a little too much, giving Saint Joseph an easy 82-62 victory. For those following the situation at home, this is the biggest loss the Hokies have suffered since November 15th.
Duke has performed incredibly well recently as they have won eight of their last nine games, improving to 10-2 this season. As for Va. Tech, they have struggled recently as they have lost seven of their last nine games, which took a major dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Tuesday’s contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Duke hasn’t given up the ball easily this season, averaging just 10.4 turnovers per game. It’s a different story for Va. Tech, because they have a 14.5 average. Given Duke’s considerable advantage in this area, Va. Tech will have to find a way to close this gap.
Duke beat Va. Tech 77-67 in their previous meeting in January. Will Duke repeat his success, or Will. Does Tech have a better game plan this time around? We’ll know soon enough.
