We have another exciting ACC matchup on the schedule as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Syracuse Orange are set to tip-off at 2:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Demon Deacons will no doubt be hoping to end a seven-game losing streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, Wake Forest couldn’t handle Clemson and fell 73-62.
Wake Forest’s loss came despite a quality game from Hunter Sallis, who went 11 of 15 en route to 26 points plus two steals. Additionally, Sallis also posted a field goal completion percentage of 73.3%, which is the highest he has posted since February.
Wake Forest struggled to work together and finished the game with just five assists. This is the fewest assists they have posted since January.
Meanwhile, Syracuse earned a 75-63 victory over Bucknell on Saturday.
Syracuse’s victory was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eddie Lampkin Jr., who had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jaquan Carlos was another key player, nearly dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine assists.
Wake Forest’s loss dropped their record to 9-4. As for Syracuse, the win brought them back into a tie at 6-6.
Looking ahead, Wake Forest should win a close contest, except for the buzzers. This will be the first time they play as road favorites this season.
It was all rosy for Wake Forest against Syracuse in their previous meeting in February, as the team took a 99-70 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wake Forest since the team won’t have home-court advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change of location makes a difference.
