The TX A&M-CC Islanders and Schreiner Mountaineers will close out the year against each other at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday at the Dugan Wellness Center. These two teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable losses in their previous matches.
TX A&M-CC is coming off a crazy two-game stretch: after flying to 117 points last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Houston last Saturday. There’s no need to mince words: TX A&M-CC lost to the Cougars, and TX A&M-CC lost badly. The score ended at 87-51. This was the Islanders’ lowest scoring game so far this season.
This defeat does not tell the whole story, because several players had good matches. One of the most active was Garry Clark, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. This dominant performance also earned him a new career high in assists (three).
Meanwhile, Schreiner had to start his season on the road last Thursday, and it wasn’t the start he was hoping for. They suffered a crushing 101-57 defeat against the Incarnate Word. The Mountaineers were in a tough spot after the first half, already up 50-23.
TX A&M-CC dropped its record to 7-6 with the loss, which was its fifth straight on the road. As for Schreiner, his loss dropped his record to 0-3.
