Ouch.
Iowa state male basketball was a few seconds to win a victory to beat Arizona at the McKale Center on Monday in Tucson. The desperate uprising of the desperate buzzer of Caleb Love in the middle of the field has placed through the hoop to attach the game and force overtime.
From there, the Wildcats took the momentum and upset the cyclones classified third, 86-75.
Arizona closed overtime on an 11-0 race during the 2:24 finals to withdraw for the victory.
Tamin Lipsey had 18 points to lead the cyclones. Keshon Gilbert finished with 17 points and six rebounds. Joshua Jefferson had 15 points. Disehon Jackson cut a double-double 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The road to a potential title of the regular season of Big 12 and the seeded n ° 1 of the NCAA tournament are still there, but it has really become a little more difficult for cyclones.
Love led Arizona with a top of 22 points. Tobe Awaka has bitten a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. KJ Lewis and Carter Bryant each have 14 points on the bench.
Here are three points to remember from the loss of cyclones:
Really with a three -point lead or not?
It’s easy to say with hindsight. Do you get three going down the section or let it go up on your defense?
Jefferson went 1 for 2 on the line with 2.9 seconds to the chronometer to give the cyclones an advance of 71-68.
LOVE received the ball and launched an uprising of Beyond Half-COURT which hit only net to push the game into overtime.
“According to the stopwatch and the timing, the first scenario (up 70-67 after the free throws of Curtis Jones) appears with probably 20.6, so it was a little too early, so we do not get there- low, “said Iowa state coach Tj Otzelberger, said. “Then, at the end, when it’s a few seconds, it is easy to look at him now and say:” Why have you not defeated in this situation? “I do not know what are the chances of this one, but probably not really high – so the chances of this situation are that you are not rude and you would better defend.”
The decision not to fault did not seem to be a bad. The Wildcats were not an excellent three -point shooting team throughout the year and they pulled only 6 out of 25 from Beyond The Arc before the Miracle of Love.
It was an unlikely blow. Apart from this prayer equally, Iowa State repressed the Arizona and limited the Wildcats to another with a shot during the 3:40 of the regulation. Defense was solid overall through regulations.
In overtime, however, Arizona obtained open views from the perimeter and took fire to a crucial time. It was an unfortunate combination for cyclones. The Wildcats had one of their best three -point shots at a pivot section and succeeded in the upheaval. Love struck the three to start the 11-0 race to finish the match.
“It is difficult, especially when you play in a place like this with such a good atmosphere and it brought life in the arena when he did this one,” said Lipsey. “As the coach said, we were just trying to bounce before the tip (in overtime). We went down and marked, then we just let him move away from us.”
Curtis Jones had one night
After a high career performance against Arizona State when he transported cyclones through a majority of the match, Jones fought against the Wildcats.
Jones had been on a tear of the conference, with an average of 22.3 points and 5.1 rebounds while firing 51.3% in total and 41.8% in the first Big 12 Action games.
It was contained against the Wildcats. He finished with eight points on shot 1 out of 11. He went 6-in-8 of the Frank of Launchers and missed his eight three-point attempts.
Jones managed five rebounds, two assists and three reversals. Two of these gifts came to overtime.
It will be interesting to see how Jones rebounds in the next Iowa State match. He had only two other score performances to a figure this season.
Overall, it was not the best performance of the Iowa State and it did not help that its Sparkplug could not start.
Turnover embarrassed cyclones
The state of Iowa has committed 18 seasonal reversals in defeat.
The cyclones had several opportunities where it could have continued to take momentum while they go up in the game and took the lead in the middle of the second half.
There was a section from 2:00 p.m. to 11:29 am to do in the second period when Iowa’s state returned the ball in five out of six possessions.
In overtime, the cyclones have coughed the ball three times, which led to baskets which helped the Arizona to take the lead or to remove.
Arizona took the 18 reversals of cyclones and converted them into 22 points.
Gilbert represented five of these reversals. Lipsey had four, while Jones hired three. Jefferson and Brandton Chatfield each had two reversals.
Cyclones are at their best offensively when they move and take care of the ball and limit reversals. Two of the three losses of the state of the Iowa occurred when they had more turnover than assists.
They are now 2-2 in total in these situations this season. They tightened by Texas Tech in overtime and beat Arizona State, despite more turnover than assists, but fell into West Virginia and now Arizona.
“I have the impression that we are disappointed with the result, they deserve a lot of credit,” said Otzelberger. “Lots of respect for Coach (Tommy) Lloyd and his program, they had an excellent team. We will be better for that and we will go to the next thing fairly quickly.”
