It’s no secret that the last few years have been difficult for Jeff Hardy. The former WWE Champion left the promotion in late 2021 under a cloud of controversy, after wandering into the crowd during a match. Then, shortly after signing with AEW in 2022, Hardy was arrested for drunk driving, an arrest that ultimately torpedoed his participation in the promotion as well as that of his brother Matt Hardy. Now back in TNA with his brother and once again holding the TNA Tag Team Championship gold, Hardy has a clearer mind about everything that happened during that time.
During an appearance on “Preview with Chris Van Vliet”, Hardy has been candid about the struggles he’s been through throughout 2021 and 2022, particularly when it comes to alcohol. He revealed that his drinking got much worse as he tried to cope with the failing health of his father, who died on April 6, 2021.
“When I left WWE in 2021, my dad was really sick,” Hardy said. “2017, right after we returned to WWE at Mania, that was probably around the time he last felt good before falling back into that dark depression. But yeah, I had taken care of him, and that It was just bad where he didn’t want to be here He was ready to leave very young, I was 10 when she died, so I always wondered when. he needed me I will. looking after him, I just did everything I could to get him excited about life and all that.
