The Spanish women’s coach, Montse Tomé, cited the “sporting reasons” for having left the World Cup winner again in 2023, Jenni Hermoso, from his last team.
Tome Wednesday announced his list For the next games of the UEFA female nations league against Belgium and England.
Asked about Hermoso, who recently testified in her sexual assault file against the former president of the Spanish football federation Luis Rubiales, Tomé said: “The 23 players who appear today are the 23 best players who must be There.
Tigres striker Feménil Hermoso had been omitted from the December friendly matches against South Korea and France.
Tomé previously commented to leave Hermoso from the other squads of Spain.
During her testimony in the rubial trial, Tomé said that she had not included Hermoso in her first team after the 2023 World Cup to protect the media player.
Tomé, however, insisted on Wednesday that Hermoso, who is the top scorer of all time in Spain, could again play for the national team.
“This is the first list of this year,” said Tomé. “There is no closed door for the national team to a player, to players who prove with the work they want to be here.”
Hermoso’s career has not been the same since the controversy of the Rubials. The Spanish prosecutor Marta Durántez referred to the infamous incident which occurred during the presentation of the World Cup trophy in his closing arguments on Wednesday in the rubial trial.
“She (hermoso) will be known like that of the kiss, not as the player who won a World Cup”, ” Durántez said.
Hermoso, 34, started in Tigers’ victory in 2-1 of the Tigers League on Tuesday and missed a penalty.
Spain welcomed Belgium on February 21 before playing five days later in Wembley against England, the team they beat in the 2023 World Cup final.
