Before WWE star Karrion Kross was Karrion Kross, he was like many other wrestlers, trying to make a name for himself on the independent circuit or wrestling for promotions like TNA and Lucha Underground. And while Kross was surely on WWE’s radar at that time, what ultimately got him to sign with WWE in the first round was a little encouragement from a guy who had just left WWE.
During an interview with “Notsam Fight”, Kross once again shared how current AEW World Champion Jon Moxley was instrumental in signing with WWE, thanks to a conversation the two had shortly after wrestling on an independent show of Las Vegas which Kross was promoting.
“After the show, he basically said, ‘Hey, listen. I’m not telling you where to go. I’m not telling you where to make money. But I’m just saying you should really call Triple H, because you could make a very, very good living there,” Kross said. “He told me: ‘Work where you want, go where you want. But I just have a feeling that if you call it, things will work out for you. ”
“And I was like… it’s like ‘What do you mean? Call Triple H? What do you mean?’ He says ‘No, call him… I’ll give you his number, I want you to call him.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ Well, now I can’t (not call him)… So now I had to… So I texted him (Triple H) He calls me and says: ” Is it really Killer Kross?” Because, I don’t know, it could be a quirky caller or someone who gets his number. So we talked, and a few months later, I was in “NXT,” and that’s kind of how it worked.
