Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s live coverage for “WWE Smackdown” on January 24, 2025, coming to you live from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas!

After defeating Los Garza in a tag team match two weeks ago, Pretty Deadly’s Kit Wilson and Elton Prince look to redeem themselves from their defeat as they collide with the former tag team champion. Tag WWE, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin of Motor City Machine Guns. The two teams have met a handful of times over the past few weeks as Shelley and Sabin continue their quest to regain their #diy title.

As he, Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa continue to figure out what comes next after Sikoa’s “tribal chief” loss to Roman Reigns in a tribal fighting match on the Jan. 6 episode of “WWE RAW,” Tama Tonga will have to refocus his sights tonight as he goes one-on-one with La Knight. The two met on last week’s edition of “Smackdown” when he sought to attack Tonga, Fatu and Sikoa until the trio overpowered him and Braun Strowman subsequently arrived at his relief.

Additionally, Cody Rhodes will speak with half of the “SmackDown” commentary team Joe Tessitore in the ring tonight as he continues to prepare to defend his undisputed WWE Championship against archrival Kevin Owens in a ladder match at the WWE Royal Rumble on February 1.

We are live! Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore greet the home crowd as the latter introduces Cody Rhodes and he heads to the ring.

Cody Rhodes speaks with Joe Tessitore ahead of his contract signing in Saturday night’s main event

Tessitore questions Rhodes about signing the contract, and Rhodes expresses his respect for Shawn Michaels given that he is responsible for his undisputed WWE Championship in Saturday night’s main event. He says that with WrestleMania 41 around the corner, he plans to go into the Premium Live event with his title. Prompted by another question from Tessitore, Rhodes then says that Owens is a genius between the ropes and a great athlete, but when faced with choosing the easy way out or the hard way, he will always choose the easy way out. He says Owens can’t take the easy route to February 1 being disqualified by a referee in a ladder match. Tessitore asks Rhodes what message he would send to Owens if he could, and Rhodes says he can try to be a good guy, but when a button is pushed, Owens should be reminded that he conquered the likes by Gunther and Roman Reigns. He says before he became the current version of himself, he was a student of Randy Orton and wishes Owens good luck.
