Liverpool head coach Arne Slot says the club is in “constant discussions” with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk And Trent Alexander-Arnold as uncertainty over the trio’s long-term future persists.
All three players are out of contract at the end of the season and will therefore be free to start negotiating with foreign clubs from January 1.
Slot has remained largely tight-lipped on the issue, but has now insisted he is not concerned by the contract impasse, with his side currently seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a game in less.
“If we do, it’s probably not the time to tell you now,” Slot said when asked if he had any news of the negotiations at a press conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash and West Ham.
“In general, I don’t talk about contractual situations here. It would be a surprise if it was me who announced that one of them had extended.
“It is clear that from January 1, maybe for you, things change a lot, but they are in constant talks with the club and let’s wait and see what happens. As long as they continue to play like this , the head coach is happy.
Slot also released an update on the injured duo’s fitness Ibrahima Konate And Conor Bradleyboth of whom have been absent since Liverpool’s victory over Real Madrid in November.
“They won’t come back for West Ham United,” the Liverpool manager said. “Then there’s a week between (West Ham and the Manchester United game).
“Let’s see how close they are. It’s difficult to tell you at the moment because they don’t train with the group yet. Hopefully in the next few days they get closer to that situation.
“But then again, Ibou has been out for maybe five or six weeks, Conor just as long and they are competing against players who are in great shape and doing very well, so I have to make the right judgment from their back.”
