LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan is expected to step down effective Jan. 9, 2025, the tour announced Monday. Liz Moore, chief legal and technology officer and corporate secretary, will assume the role of interim commissioner as the LPGA Board of Directors works with an executive search firm to identify the organization’s next commissioner.
“I thank President John Veihmeyer and the rest of the LPGA Board of Directors for placing their trust in me as the ninth LPGA Commissioner,” said Marcoux Samaan. “In this role, I have had the privilege of working alongside a remarkable community of athletes, teachers, partners, tournament operators, industry colleagues, media, fans, of volunteers and staff who share a deep commitment to growing the LPGA and using the organization’s unique platform to empower and advance women and girls.
“I am proud of the unprecedented growth that the LPGA has enjoyed since the start of my mandate. The strategy we have developed for growth and impact and the infrastructure we have added to capitalize on the enormous opportunity ahead will serve the LPGA well for decades to come. With the LPGA positioned for continued growth, it is time for me to have more time to cheer on our three wonderful children as they live out their dreams while pursuing my passion of developing leaders, uniting communities and create value through sport, particularly that of women. sporty.”
Marcoux Samaan took office in 2021 and has overseen a period of intense growth fueled by the arrival of new stars such as world number 1 Nelly Korda. Prize funds increased by more than 90% and revenues reached new heights, with the average winnings of the top 100 players doubling from $570,000 in 2021 to more than $1 million in 2024.
