Manchester United ended a two-game losing streak in spectacular fashion on Sunday, coming from behind to defeat Manchester City in the long-standing rivalry match.
The match, which started as a rather boring edition of the Manchester Derby, took a surprising turn as Man United scored two goals in the final three minutes of regulation to take a 2-1 lead.
Manchester City controlled much of the match, with defender Joško Gvardiol heading in the opening goal from a free kick in the 36th minute. But United came back strongly in the final minutes to claim victory.
Man United’s equalizer came in the 88th minute from a Bruno Fernandes penalty. Man City defender Matheus Nunes made two significant errors before the kick, first attempting a poor pass which was intercepted by United striker Amad Diallo, then fouling Diallo in the surface as he rushed to make up for the mistake.
Diallo had the last laugh, sprinting through the Man City defense to score the winning goal in the 90th minute, getting a lovely touch which went over the head of City goalkeeper Ederson and deftly crossed the ball into the goal for victory.
With the defeat, Manchester City have now lost five of their last seven matches and have also struggled immensely in the UEFA Champions League.
