As 2024 comes to a close, former WWE Superstar Matt Hardy took the time to give out his own “Hardy Awards” on his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, with one of the categories being Most Talking in Wrestling this year. There have been a number of good promos this year, with Hardy and co-host Jon Alba admitting they thought there were more good promotions in WWE than AEW, but Hardy managed to narrow his shortlist down to five people.
“When you start talking about the best speaker, I mean a person who after his return to WWE, CM Punk was a very compelling character week in and week out, there’s no doubt about that. Drew McIntyre also stands out, he was a great speaker. There’s Jon Moxley – I like a lot of things he said. I like what Seth Rollins said when The Rock came on and he’s back, even for this short time. he is always an extremely convincing speaker.”
With all these nominees, who made Hardy their best speaker of 2024? “My favorite this year, especially because he really embraced his heel role, and went through the schtick from start to finish, was Drew McIntyre.”
Not only did McIntyre win Talker of the Year, but he would later win Feud of the Year for his work with CM Punk. Hardy praised the feud saying there was no way not to watch what they did together, and as good as their matches were, their promos were what kept people coming into buildings.
