Indianapolis – Michigan basketball seems to have dodged a bullet for its rear area.

Roddy Gayle Jr., The sixth man of the UM and the two primary guards, missed a 3-point of the right wing at the end of the first half of the championship match of the Big Ten tournament on Sunday afternoon against the Wisconsin and, while descending, the field seemed to seize his left hamstrings.

A few moments later, the Wisconsin was the victim of a fault, which stopped the match for a media period with 2:34 to do in the first half and the badgers leading 23-21. It was at this point that Gayle immediately won her jersey and went around the bench and lifted the tunnel with associate sports coach Chris Williams.

CBS journalist, Tracy Wolfson, said Gayle after the half-time on the bike at trying to stay lost, but her left hamstrings are wrapped and it is questionable to come back.

However, with just over 16 minutes to play in the second half, Gayle returned to the game and will try.

It is difficult to say what it means in the long term, but it certainly does not seem to be a bad sign.

Gayle provides depth at the level of the guard which simply does not exist without him. Yes, Gayle fought with power this year, having only 1 of the 26 points to 3 points since the calendar turned around 2025, but he started recovering his confidence this week, including the semi-final on Saturday against Maryland when he struck a long ball from the right wing to break a 0 for 18.

Gayle scored 11 points in the quarter -final against Purdue, then added nine against the terps and also had what Dusty May called the game of the game when he fought an offensive rebound far from Julian Reese at a critical moment.

Gayle is on average 9.6 points out of 43.2% to go with 3.2 rebounds per game.
