WWE is hoping to put more spotlight on its women with the introduction of new mid-card championships. One of them, the WWE United States Women’s Championship, saw Chelsea Green crowned the inaugural winner of Saturday night’s main event. In an interview with “Ringside”, Michin, the runner-up, spoke more about being so close to making history. Taking his defeat with enthusiasm, Michin presented the new belt as a way to create new opportunities for underutilized talent.
“I think it’s great for women’s wrestling, especially now because there are so many talented women,” Michin explained. “There are a lot of us that either we don’t have time for or there isn’t room for us at the high end yet. So at least now we have something we can focus on. focus and something to pursue and something to show during the show.. it’s only positive for us.”
Having reached the final of the U.S. Women’s Championship tournament, Michin enjoyed performing in front of her largest audience yet during the return of the NBC broadcast of Saturday Night’s Main Event. Although Green won the gold medal that night, Michin predicted she would win the title at some point in 2025.
“This year, 2024, has been a year of recognition for people to know what I can do and bring a new perspective,” Michin said. “Next year, 2025, will be the year of redemption. I was so close to this U.S. Women’s Championship that I got a taste of it. I’m not going to stop until I get it.”
As for the other two new WWE Championships, Candice LeRae became the first WWE Women’s Speed Champion in early October, and the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion has yet to be determined, with two semi-final matches broadcast tonight on “WWE Raw.”
