What you need to know
The Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET at Target Center. The Timberwolves defense has only allowed 107.6 points per game this season, so the Warriors offense will have its work cut out for it.
Last Monday, the Timberwolves cruised past the Wizards with points to spare, winning the game 120-106.
Anthony Edwards was a one-man wrecking crew for the Timberwolves going 14 of 25 on his way to 41 points plus seven assists and six rebounds. Additionally, Edwards also posted a field goal completion percentage of 56%, which is the highest he has posted since December 2024.
Even though they won, the Timberwolves struggled to work together and finished the game with just 20 assists. They were destroyed by their opponents in this department as the Wizards posted 27.
Meanwhile, the point spread may have favored the Warriors last Monday, but the final result didn’t. They fell just to the Raptors by a score of 104-101. For those watching at home, this is the closest loss Golden State has suffered since December 25, 2024.
Stephen Curry had a good effort for the losing team as he had 26 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. His performance made up for a slower game against the Pistons on Thursday.
Minnesota pushed its record to 21-18 with the win, which was its third straight on the road. As for Golden State, they haven’t been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five games, which has significantly dented their 19-20 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday’s game: The Timberwolves have made deep shots look easy this season, averaging 15.1 threes per game. However, it’s not like the Warriors are struggling in this department as they average 15. Given these competing forces, it will be interesting to see how their matchup plays out.
Looking ahead, the Timberwolves are the favorites as experts expect them to win by 6.5 points. This contest will be their seventh in a row as favorites (so far in this stretch, they are 2-3-1 ATS).
