Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has raised the possibility of signing the Manchester United winger. Alexandre Garnacho ahead of his side’s win over Juventus on Saturday, emphasizing that the Serie A leaders will not overextend financially for his talents.
Garnacho has been one of the names most heavily linked with a move to Antonio Conte’s squad following the departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at Paris Saint-Germain, with the Borussia Dortmund striker Karim Adeyemi.
ESPN reported last week that United had rejected an initial approach of around €50 million from Napoli for the Argentina international.
Asked by DAZN about developments on a possible deal ahead of the 2-1 win at the Stadio Diego Maradona, Manna said: “They are two names that interest us, they are players that we like, but they are not the alone.
“We’re trying to evaluate some things and look at opportunities, but we certainly won’t pay prices that are outside of market value.”
“We made this sale which was unfortunately necessary for what the player wanted and our dynamic. We will respect our parameters, not only for the transfer fee, but also for the salary.
“We are evaluating a few situations, it wouldn’t be fair to give false hope to our fans, but we will definitely do our best to improve the team.”
Garnacho is under contract until 2028, and sources have told ESPN that United’s valuation is much higher than the figures included in Napoli’s opening survey.
United are also keen to keep the 20-year-old – considered one of the club’s best young players – although it is accepted his worrying finances could lead to tough decisions if big bids are made.
Garnacho has played 33 times for United this season in all competitions, scoring eight goals and adding five assists.
