American basketball player Miles Bridges was fined $50,000 for hitting a girl with his mouthpiece. The incident occurred during Wednesday’s National Accreditation Board (NBA) game when Bridge’s Charlotte Hornet team lost to the Hawks 103-132 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Bridges received two technical fouls and was ejected for arguing over a goalie call. As he headed to the locker room, the NBA player was heckled by a fan. He then threw his mouthpiece into the stands, which hit a young girl.

Bridges apologized after the game for the incident and again on Thursday. A 10-second clip of the incident has been viewed more than 3.4 million times.

“I lost my cool last night with a lot of things happening,” Bridges said in a postgame news conference Wednesday. “I usually don’t act like that and it was embarrassing for me and the organization.”

The basketball player also said he was willing to take “full responsibility” and accept any sanctions imposed by the league.

“I was targeting the guy who was yelling at me, and it hit a little girl, so it’s definitely unacceptable on my part and I take full responsibility for it. I’m ready to take whatever consequences the NBA throws at me. will impose,” Bridges said.

He also expressed his desire to make contact with the girl so that he could apologize.

“Someone put me in touch with the young woman. This is unacceptable,” Tweeted Bridges in reaction to the video which went viral on social networks.
