Some of the greatest athletes in India have found their names on the hatching block after the Ministry of Sports has reduced the central group of the target Olympic Podium diagram (TOPS) from 179 to 94 after a performance review recently.
Tennis, swimming and golf are not represented in the list while the presence of boxing and athletics has been considerably reduced.
Of the 94 chosen, 42 are valid athletes – a reduction of 78 compared to the previous list.
Fifty-two para-athletes, including the best interpreters of the Paris Paralympic Games, were in the central group, the reflection of their growing stature and their growing international performance, which included 29 medals (seven gold) in the capital French last August.
Tops, which was introduced in 2014 to ensure targeted support for Olympic hopes, provides foreign training, international competitions, equipment and a coach in addition to a monthly allowance for RS 50,000 for short -term athletes by the cell Olympic of the mission of the Ministry of Sports.
Recently, the ministry also added an allowance of 25 USD to the monthly allowance whenever an athlete travels abroad for training or competition.

Exclusion rules; Who is and who came out?
For inclusion in the Fresh group, the athletes had to be medalists in Paris or would be deepened in the draw for the matches or would have been in the top 16 of the world ranking.
Since 30 names in the previous list, athletics have only three figures in the updated group and none of them happen to be a woman.
The gold medalist of Tokyo 202, Neeraj Chopra ,, Avinash Sand and Long Jumper M. Sreeshankar, are the group’s athletics figures.
Among the eminent to abandon are asad Tajinderpal Singh Toor, winner of a gold shot, the anniversary javelin javelin launcher and twice the gold sprinter, Muhammed Anas Yahiya.
The representation of boxing has significantly passed from eight to only two and none of them happens to be a male pugilist. Only Lovlina Borgohain, winner of the Tokyo Olympic Games, and World Champion Nikhat Zareen are on the list.
